The Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) program is a course-based program suited to students who wish to pursue their engineering education in a preferred area of specialization beyond the undergraduate level, but who do not wish to pursue a research-based program. Students have an option to apply for a paid internship.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the M.Eng. program in all specializations must hold a credential deemed academically equivalent to a four-year bachelor's degree from UBC, in engineering or a related discipline.

The minimum admission requirement is an overall average of 76% (UBC-equivalency), and meeting the English language proficiency requirements specified by COGS.

Applicants holding a bachelor's degree who do not meet the admissions minimum, but who have had sufficient formal training and relevant professional experience may be granted admission on the recommendation of the M.Eng. program coordinator.

For further information on the program, please see Master of Engineering.

Program Requirements

The program requires completion of at least approved 30 credits. For an up-to-date list of mandatory and elective M.Eng. courses, students should consult each specialization website.

  • At least 24 credits must be at the 500-level with a minimum of 12 of the 24 credits in the program specialization.
  • A maximum of 6 credits may be taken at the 300-/400-level.
  • A maximum of 6 credits of 500-level directed studies courses may be counted toward the program requirements.

Internship

During the first term of study, students can apply to participate in an optional Internship that takes place in the second year of their study.
